Large green oak pergola constructed on site in Twickenham, West London.

For this project the client requested something chunky and rustic while in keeping with their Georgian house. We decided planed 5″ French green oak with hand cut and double pegged joints would be just the ticket. We deliberately left the dry oak pegs proud and the oak untreated to weather naturally to add rustic interest.

The design had to consider both the existing door openings and also the mature planting without compromising any structural integrity. We used hand made staddle stones to seat the pergola which allowed the existing patio to remain untouched. Careful thought and planning went into safely erecting this heavy structure in a space with very limited access.
