Reclaimed Oak Dining Table

A commission for a 10′ reclaimed oak dining table, this bespoke piece was largely based on photos of an antique refectory table spotted by the client. They wanted something to sit, pride of place in their new kitchen diner extension in South East London.

Originating from old structural beams, we had the oak milled to size by a specialist firm. Traditional hand cut pegged mortice and tenon joints were used throughout, and the table top sections were spline jointed with butterly insets used across any ‘shakes’ (oak has a tendency to split as it dries, these natural defects are known as ‘shakes’). Two dovetail drawers were fitted and the whole piece finished in an antiqued furntiure wax.

A stunning table, made to measure, and one very staisfied customer! To see more tables, click here.
